Childcare Survival Skills (Ages 11-14)
Learn how to become the best babysitter you can be! New this winter our Babysitters Course has teamed up with our cooking programs to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to provide healthy and nutritious snacks and meals for the children in their care. This 10-week course, consisting of two hours per week will teach participants how to care for babies to school age children in a safe and positive environment, prevent injuries, handle emergencies and respond with first aid, and to provide age appropriate activities and games. In the second hour of each class the participants will learn how to cook a variety of healthy snacks and meals using basic ingredients that can be found in the cupboards, fridges, and freezers of their homes. In addition they will learn basic food handling skills and kitchen safety. Participants will also learn communication skills and basic business skills to be a successful babysitter. Participants will be required to pass a written exam in order to pass the Babysitting portion of this program.
Smart Start for Teens (Ages 12-15)
In the Smart Start for Teens course, youth will learn the basics around fitness & wellness centre etiquette, resistance training, cardiovascular training, flexibility and nutrition. Youth 12-15 years of age must complete our Smart Start for Teens program prior to using the Fitness and Wellness center and the Track and Training Center.
Teen Spin (Ages 12-15)
Teen spin is designed to teach the basics of a spin class. Everything from bike set up to building endurance and confidence among peers in a safe environment. This class will accommodate all fitness levels. *There is a height minimum of 5 feet, due to the size of the bike.
Yoga for Teens (Ages 12-15)
Come to a lighthearted yoga class that lets you stretch out and chill out. Take a deep breath, open your mind and find your inner strength through movement. Improve your confidence, fitness and health, leaving the class feeling grounded and centred.
